ISC OPENS BOYS GRAND FINAL PREVIEW

The stage is set for the AFL Independent Schools Boys Opens Division 1 Grand Final this Friday night, with Waverley and Saint Ignatius ready to battle it out under lights at Blacktown International Sports Park from 7pm.

Waverley will enter the match riding a wave of momentum after already securing both the Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 Division 1 boys premierships earlier this month at Gore Hill Oval.

• Year 7/8 Division 1 Grand Final – Waverley 8.15 (63) def. Knox 3.6 (12)
• Year 9/10 Division 1 Grand Final – Waverley 6.12 (48) def. Saint Ignatius 5.6 (36)

Now, the Opens squad has the chance to complete a rare clean sweep across all Division 1 boys’ competitions – an achievement that would underline the school’s dominance in 2025.

Standing in their way are the reigning premiers, Saint Ignatius Riverview, who return to the big stage with the confidence of last year’s triumph – a gritty 50-36 win over Knox Grammar in the 2024 decider. Riverview will be out to deny Waverley’s perfect season and secure back-to-back titles.

With Waverley chasing history and Riverview defending their title, Friday night promises a high-quality contest between two of the competition’s powerhouse football programs.
