The 2025 Boys Independent Schools competition has once again delivered a season of outstanding football, spirited rivalries and remarkable displays of teamwork across all year levels. Over the past three months, hundreds of players have taken to the field, representing their schools with pride, passion and determination.
The season has reached one of its most exciting stages on Friday August 8th the stage was set at Gore Hill Oval, where the Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 Division 1 Grand Finals were contested under the lights in front of enthusiastic crowds.

In the Year 7/8 Division 1 Grand Final, Waverley set the tone from the first bounce.
Their midfielders controlled the contest, winning clearances and moving the ball forward with precision.
Knox displayed plenty of heart and determination, but Waverley’s forward line proved too strong, consistently finding scoring opportunities. By the final siren, Waverley had secured their title.
8.15 (63) to 1.6 (12) victory, capping off an impressive season and earning themselves a well-deserved premiership.

The Year 9/10 Division 1 clash between Waverley and St Ignatius was neck and neck.
Both sides traded goals throughout the match and the contest remained in the balance until the final quarter.
St Ignatius pushed hard in the dying minutes but Waverley’s composure under pressure and ability to win key contests saw them emerge 6.12 (48) to 5.6 (36) winners.
It was a testament to both teams’ skill, discipline, and fighting spirit.

St Ignatius capped off the Independent School Competition in thrilling fashion, holding off a late charge from Waverley to secure the ISC Opens Boys Division 1 title.
In a nail-biting contest, Waverley pushed hard in the final stages, but St Ignatius held their composure to claim a 5.10 (40) to 4.9 (33) victory.
The result marks the team’s third title in four years, cementing their dominance in the competition.
Across all divisions, there were incredible stories of improvement, resilience, and teamwork. Congratulations to the 2025 ISC Boys premiers in their respective divisions:

- Opens Division 2 – Saint Ignatius, Riverview 2
- Opens Division 3 – Cranbrook 2
