If you’re looking for a reason to lace up this summer, look no further. A summer of fast-paced footy is coming to Queensland, with AFL Nines returning in a big way for both youth and adult players. Whether you’re itching for an early season hit-out, missing having a kick with your mates, or just love being part of a team, these one-day competitions are the perfect way to get your footy fix.
AFL Nines is shorter matches, non-contact play, and plenty of goals and big celebrations. AFL Nines is all the fun of footy, packed into one action-filled day.
YERONGA YOUTH COMPETITION
The Youth AFL Nines Challenge is set to deliver a full day of fast, fun football for youth players U13 – U15. This one-day tournament features a round-robin format of non-contact footy, keeping participants active, engaged and playing alongside their mates all day long.
Teams can enter as their 2025 club side, looking for an early comeback, or form a brand-new squad with friends, even those who haven’t played before.
Date: Sunday 8th March
Time: 9am-5pm
Location: Leyshon Park, Yeronga
Divisions: U13 Girls, U13 Boys, U15 Girls, U15 Boys (max 8 teams per competition)
Minimum of 9 players per team
$350 per team
Prizes: All teams that sign up will receive an AFL Nines football. The winners of each competition will receive a trophy and individual medals. Additional prizes include:
- 15 x double passes to R8 Gold Coast SUNS v Essendon
- 15 x tickets to R12 Brisbane Lions v Fremantle
- Tour of the Brisbane Lions training facility at Brighton Homes Arena
- Tour of the Gold Coast SUNS training facility at People First Stadium
- 2 x Gold Coast SUNS players to attend a training session
- 2 x Brisbane Lions players to attend a training session
- $1,500 Sherrin voucher
- $1,000 Hart Sport voucher

SANDGATE SENIOR COMPETITION
This AFL Nines competition is built for teams who want a quality hit-out, a bit of edge, and something to play for, all in a single day. This is footy with only a one day commitment, grab your mates, lock in a team and enjoy a fast-paced day of competition with real prizes on the line.
Date: Saturday 28th Feb
Time: 9am-5pm
Location: Lemke Rd, Sandgate
Divisions: Men's & Women's (max 16 teams per competition)
Minimum of 9 players per team
$350 per team
Prizes:
- 1st place: $3,500
- 2nd place: $1,000
- 3rd place: $500
