The 2026 season will look a little different for QFA Division 3 on the Gold Coast, with three new clubs in Broadbeach, Burleigh, and Surfers Paradise entering teams into the competition next year.
With nine teams playing Friday night football on the Gold Coast, 2026 is set to be an exciting year.
“We know how big football is in the Gold Coast, and the fact three clubs have established brand new teams at the same time is a testament to that,” Competition Lead – QFA & QFAW, Travis Bell said.
“We’re excited to see these new teams in action and are supportive of the opportunity they provide for players to engage with community football.”
This enthusiasm is matched by the clubs,
“We are really excited as a club to have been approved for the Division 3 competition,” Regan Sheehan, Football Manager at Broadbeach said.
“It will be pivotal in keeping players at the club that they may not want to commit to the level required to play QAFL and just want to stay at the club they love and have a kick with their mates.”
Senior Club President for Burleigh, Dean Ryan, credits the community support as an important factor for the club’s ability to field a team.
“The Burleigh Bombers have been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from across the entire Club since we announced our plans for a QFA Division 3 team," he said.
"We’ve had over 40 past and new players register their interest to play and we’re especially pleased that former Senior Club Captain Matt Tregenza will return to the Bombers as our Division 3 playing coach.”
Surfers Paradise have also seen their Division 3 team attract ex-club members to return to playing after some time away.
“The entire club is excited to launch our Division 3 team in 2026, and a huge part of that excitement is seeing ex-Demons come back through the doors,” Haydn Chambers, Surfers Paradise President, said.
“Having former SPAFC players return, not just to pull on the boots again, but to coach, mentor, and lead the group, is what makes our club so proud.”
