Safeguarding Children & Young People

All children and young people who participate in footy have the right to be safe, feel safe and play safe.

Parents, Carers and Guardians

As the advocates for your children's wellbeing, your role within the AFL community is invaluable. To empower you with the knowledge and tools necessary for safeguarding children and young people, we present resources that form the cornerstone of our collective commitment to child safety.

These materials will guide you in understanding, identifying, and promoting a safe and positive sporting environment for all our young athletes.

What you can expect of the AFL

The AFL is committed to promoting and protecting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in our care who access activities, programs, services or facilities for which the AFL is responsible for.

What the AFL expects of you

Parents play such a crucial role in local footy; your actions will shape the next generation of footy players and fans.

While some adults in football are bound by child safeguarding policies, procedures and codes of conduct, all adults, including parents and carers are expected to play their part in keeping children and young people safe in football.
