In the second term, the SFL kicked away to a 35-point lead at the half after notching 4.5 to a lone NTFA goal in the interval.

Neither side could register a major in the third quarter, however the SFL slightly extended their lead to 38 at the final change.

For the NTFA, Hayley Breward played with pride and picked up the best-on-ground medal for the northern side, with her contributions including seven tackles and a dozen disposals.

The men’s game took place soon after, with the SFL taking a slender lead into quarter-time after kicking 3.1 to the NTFA’s 2.5 in the first term.

After the first change, the SFL shot out of the blocks and piled on seven goals in the second quarter to lead by 44 points at half-time.

The third quarter was a closer affair, however the SFL remained in control and furthered their lead by a goal at three-quarter-time.

The final term saw a dozen goals kicked between both teams, however the SFL registered the majority of them and stormed home to a 21.7 (133) to 8.10 (58) win over the NTFA.

Andrew Phillips was instrumental in the ruck for the SFL with 56 hit-outs and was awarded the medal as the best player afield for the southern team.

NWFL Premier League - Devonport vs Burnie, Ulverstone vs Wynyard

Excluded from the action of the representative games, the NWFL premier leagues continued as usual and dished up some fascinating results.

Devoport managed the only major of the second quarter and extended their lead to 20 points at the main change.

In the third term, the Magpies continued to kick away, putting three more goals on the board to take their lead out to 39 at three-quarter-time.

Ultimately, it was a dominant 8.5 (53) to 0.2 (2) victory for Devonport over Burnie.

Sarah Skinner (two goals, six marks, 24 disposals) and Kelsey Aherne (six clearances, seven tackles, 23 disposals) were vital contributors for the Magpies in a big win.

For Burnie, Kirby Brakey (five inside-50s, 21 disposals) and Millie Baker (nine tackles, 17 disposals) were brave in defeat.

In the men’s competition, Ulverstone and Wynyard faced off on Ulverstone’s home deck. Wynyard made a red-hot start, kicking 4.3 to a goal in the first term.
