Over the past weekend, all premier leagues around Tasmania resumed regular action following the final round of the senior talent academy games the previous weekend.
SFL Premier League - Kingborough vs Clarence
In the south, Kingborough and Clarence’s men’s and women’s teams clashed at the Twin Ovals.
The men’s game took place first, and both sides were bereft of goals in the first term and drew even at four behinds apiece at quarter-time.
Kingborough broke the goal drought in the following quarter with a major to Henry Cane at the 20-minute mark, however that was the only goal registered in the interval.
In the face of a nine-point deficit at half-time, Clarence got on the board with a couple of goals in the third term and closed to within three points of the Tigers at the last change.
The final quarter was an arm wrestle, however Kingborough ultimately prevailed over Clarence to win 3.14 (32) to 3.8 (26).
Kieran Lovell (five marks, 10 inside-50s, 49 disposals) and Bailey Gordon (eight inside-50s, 12 clearances, 40 disposals) were instrumental for the Tigers in trying conditions.
For the Roos, Baxter Norton (five rebound inside-50s, six clearances, 28 disposals) and Daniel Cooney (five marks, 26 disposals) stood tall in a tough loss.
The women’s game took place later in the evening, and Kingborough made a solid start with two goals in the opening quarter while restricting Clarence to a behind.
In the second quarter, the Tigers kicked away to a 37-point lead at half-time after notching 4.2 for the term while keeping the Roos scoreless throughout.
Both teams kicked a goal apiece in the third term, and the hosts held on to their sizable buffer heading into the final quarter.
In the last quarter, the Tigers registered the only goal of the term and ran out 8.3 (51) to 1.3 (9) winners over Clarence.

NTFA Premier League - North Launceston vs Launceston
In the north, North Launceston and Launceston’s senior men’s and women’s teams battled at UTAS Stadium.
The women’s teams faced off first, and the Blues stamped their authority over North Launceston early with an unopposed 4.3 in the opening quarter.
Launceston only kicked 1.3 in the second quarter, however they maintained control of the contest as the Bombers were still unable to register a score.
Neither side notched a major in the third term, however with a flurry of minor scores the Blues extended their lead to 39 points at three-quarter-time.
The Blues finished strongly with a two-goal to one final quarter and ran out 7.13 (55) to 1.3 (9) winners over their crosstown rivals.
Launceston’s Jaimee Todman (five goals, seven inside-50s, 26 disposals) and Georgia Hill (nine inside-50s, 32 disposals) were impressive in navy blue.
Meanwhile, North Launceston’s Ella Cresswell (six clearances, 11 tackles, 46 disposals) and Caitlyn Lee (six rebound inside-50s, eight tackles, 36 disposals) were defiant in defeat.
The men’s game followed soon after, and Launceston was the better of the two sides early, kicking 2.5 to 1.1 in the first term.
The second quarter was a shootout, with eleven goals registered between the two sides. Having kicked six of them, North Launceston narrowed the gap to three points at the half.
In the second half, North Launceston took the lead and after a six-goal to two third term, they led by 22 points at the final interval.
The Bombers followed up their dominant third quarter with another six-goal to two effort and were ultimately victorious 19.11 (125) to 11.13 (79).

NWFL Premier League - Penguin vs Ulverstone, Penguin vs Devonport
In the North West, Penguin and Ulverstone’s senior women’s sides clashed at Dial Park.
Penguin made an emphatic start on their home deck, kicking a half-dozen goals in the opening quarter completely unopposed.
The Two Blues furthered their lead to 45 points at half-time after registering 2.3 to a single Ulverstone major in the second quarter.
The hosts remained in cruise control in the second half, putting another couple of goals on the board in the third term while keeping the Robins scoreless once again.
In the last quarter, Penguin finished strongly with four goals to win 14.11 (95) to 1.0 (6).
Libby Haines (four goals, nine marks, 25 disposals) and Emilie Saward (two goals, 10 inside-50s, 31 disposals) were prominent for Penguin in an impressive victory.
For the Robins, Courtney Hingston (one goal, 14 rebound inside-50s, 21 disposals) and Olivia Lyons (seven tackles, seven clearances, 20 disposals) held firm against Penguin.
Following this match, Penguin and Devonport’s senior men’s teams did battle. The visitors had the better of Penguin early, kicking 3.5 to one behind in the first quarter.
The Magpies put on a brutal display in the second quarter, kicking a mammoth 7.8 and restricting the Two Blues once again to just a point.
With a big lead already in hand, Devonport continued on their merry way in the second half to lead by 100 points at three-quarter-time.
The Pies continued to flex their muscles all the way to the final siren and ran out 21.27 (153) to 2.2 (14) victors over Penguin.
