Head of AFL Tasmania, Damain Gill has thanked outgoing NTFA President Damien Rhind following the announcement he would be stepping down from the role.

"On behalf of AFL Tasmania, we offer a sincere thank you to Damien Rhind for his commitment, hard work and passion during his tenure in the role of President of the Northern Tasmanian Football Association.

"Damien presided over the NTFA during a time of transition, and together with his executive has worked incredibly hard to manage a difficult regional restructure. We acknowledge and appreciate his dedication in what is often a thankless role, we know volunteers are backbone of community football and without them the game would not be what it is today. Damien will continue to be a valued presence in the NTFA, and we are sure he'll remain invested in the progress of the game in northern Tasmania."

Also extending a warm welcome to former Premier Peter Gutwein to the role of NTFA President.

"It's incredibly valuable to have someone of Peter’s experience and skills taking on the role at an important and exciting juncture for the game in northern Tasmania. While his appointment is still subject to the upcoming AGM, I look forward to working closely with Peter to unite and grow football in the region."
