AFL Victoria is proud to formally partner with Academy Movement to support Victorian school students through high‑quality, curriculum‑embedded AFL academy programs delivered in schools across the state.
Academy Movement is a not-for-profit organisation that provides schools with education advice and support services to start and maintain highly successful and engaging sport academies in schools.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving student engagement, strengthening educational outcomes, and creating clear connections between school, sport, and future career pathways. Through AFL Academy Movement programs, students are supported to stay engaged in school, thrive in their learning, and access real opportunities within and beyond sport.
Through this partnership, AFL Victoria joins Academy Movement’s existing sporting partners, including Rugby Australia, Cricket Victoria and Basketball Victoria, in working together to offer a range of high‑quality school‑based sporting pathways to suit all Victorian students.
A key focus of this partnership is alignment with the AFL’s Next Generation Academy (NGA) framework, supporting increased participation and pathways for students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Together, Academy Movement and AFL Victoria will work with schools to grow participation, including female and multicultural participation, while strengthening links to community clubs, coaching, umpiring and tertiary pathways.
One school that is already engaged with Academy Movement is Glenroy College in Melbourne's north.
