The AFL has launched the Coach Your Way: Rookie Program to provide women, girls, and gender-diverse participants at community football clubs with the knowledge, tools, and support to confidently step into coaching.

Attendance at the program enables participants to receive their AFL Foundation Coaching Accreditation and go on to take part in on-the-job learning in 2025 by applying their skills back at your club. This means more hands-on support for you, your players, and your coaching team this season.

Finding coaches is a challenge for many clubs. Coach Your Way is a fantastic opportunity for clubs to upskill and develop those already at your club. Succession plan now by tapping future coaches on the shoulder and give them a head start.

How to start recruiting:

Who do we suggest you tap on the shoulder?

  • Is there someone at your club already fulfilling some coaching duties - running the board, taking drills, strength & conditioning?
  • Are there people with the soft skills or other professional experience who might be a great addition to your coaching team
    - teachers for example?
  • Are their injured players you are looking to keep engaged in your club?
  • Are any current players looking to retire?
  • Or player leaders to to grow their skills and impact?
