Kawana Park AFC will take the next step in its football journey in 2027 after being granted a provisional licence to enter the QFA Division 2 North Alpha Sport Premiership.
The Eagles will move up from the Friday night-based QFA Division 3 competition following a strong 2026 campaign that saw the club finish second on the ladder and advance to the Grand Final.
For a club that only established its senior men's program in 2025, the elevation marks a significant achievement and reflects the rapid progress Kawana has made both on and off the field.
As a standalone senior club, the move provides an opportunity for the Eagles to continue building their football program against stronger opposition while further strengthening the club's presence on the Sunshine Coast.
AFL Queensland Competition Manager Mitchell Simpson said Kawana's elevation was one of the standout growth stories in community football.
“Kawana has been one of the competition’s great growth stories in recent years. The club has embraced the challenge of building a standalone senior program and has established strong foundations for future success,” he said.
“Promotion to Division 2 recognises not only the club’s on-field results in 2026, but also the dedication of its players, coaches, volunteers and administrators who have helped drive that growth.
“We congratulate everyone involved at Kawana Park AFC and look forward to seeing the Eagles continue their development at the next level in 2027 and beyond.”
