More than 80 of the country’s most promising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Multicultural girls footballers aged 15-and-under have been selected in the AFL’s 2025 Woomeras and Medleys program.

The squads will come together in New South Wales this weekend to take part in an intensive three-day football and leadership camp from July 18-20.

The Woomeras squad comprises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, while the Medleys squad contains players with at least one parent born outside Australia.

Many players selected in the squads will go on to feature in the 2026 Indigenous and Multicultural Academies and other talent pathways programs.

Players will arrive in New South Wales on Friday and engage in a host of football and athletic training sessions, along with cultural and leadership-building activities.

The highlight of the program will be two talent showcase matches which will be played at Blacktown International Sports Park on Saturday, July 19.

The Woomeras vs Medleys games will be played following the 2025 Marsh AFL National Championships – U18 Girls match between the Allies and Western Australia.

AFL Diversity Talent Programs Manager, Narelle Long, said: “It is exciting to have our 2025 Woomeras and Medleys programs coming together in New South Wales this weekend.

“For some players the Woomeras and Medleys programs will be their first step into an elite football environment and a fantastic opportunity to advance their skillset on and off the field.

“Players will take part in football sessions managed by expert coaches that will develop their skills, preparation and game awareness. They will also take part in activities that will help them excel off the field by building their personal skills and leadership qualities.

“It’s a great thrill for all players to take part in the showcase matches at Blacktown on Saturday, which gives them the chance to put their football talent on display.”

Sydney Swans AFLW development coach Bronwyn Gulden and Western Jets assistant Jacara Egan will coach the Woomeras program, with dual Adelaide Crows premiership player Danielle Ponter, GWS Giants midfielder Aleisha Newman and former Fremantle and West Coast Eagles player Cassie Davidson also part of the coaching panel.

Eastern Ranges assistant Sophia Ikosidekas and Northern Knights assistant Susan Cadman will lead the Medleys program, with assistants to include GWS Giants forward Tarni Evans, Western Bulldogs speedster Elaine Grigg, former AFLW player Akec Makur Chuot and former VFLW player Angelena Roan.

HOW TO WATCH: A live stream of the Woomeras vs Medleys matches at Blacktown International Sport Park will be available on the AFL Play YouTube channel here. The first game will commence at 2:15pm, with the second game to follow at 4:10pm.
