Krakatoas FC - representing Indonesia, won the AFL Value of Play with Passion at the 2026 Unity Cup.

The 2026 AFL Victoria Unity Cup was held on Sunday 18 October at Monash University Clayton Campus, marking the 19th year of the event which celebrates cultural diversity and connection through football.

First played in 2007, the Unity Cup featured teams representing a range of cultures, including Indian, Sri Lankan, Pacific Islanders, Chinese, Bangladehsi and several African cultures.

This year's event welcomed more than 150 participants across youth and adult divisions, with more than 20 cultures represented from communities across Victoria.

The day showcased the power of football to build connections, foster inclusion and create a sense of belonging for participants and their families.

In addition to the on-field action, attendees enjoyed a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, along with a vibrant cultural performance from the Melbourne Bhangra Squad, which contributed to the festival atmosphere and celebration of cultural diversity.

At the conclusion of the carnival, team performances are celebrated with awards aligned to the AFL Values of Play as One Team, Play Fair, Play with Passion and Play to Win.

Congratulations to the following award winning teams at the 2026 Unity Cup:

  • Play as One Team: Melbourne Bangladeshi Tigers
  • Play fair: Team Glen Waverley Secondary College
  • Play with passion: Krakatoas FC
  • Play to win: Bharat FC

The event was made possible through the support of AFL Victoria staff, community leaders, team managers, participants, volunteers and families, all of whom contributed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that celebrated both football and culture.

About the Unity Cup

First played in 2007, the Unity Cup is AFL Victoria's premier multicultural football carnival, bringing communities together through AFL Nines in a fun, inclusive and culturally celebratory environment.

Teams participating are mainly formed from social engagements and connections, through community groups, organisations and through relationships that AFL Victoria have through its participation and engagement initiatives.

Teams at the Unity Cup play the modified version of Aussie Rules known as AFL Nines — nine-a-side, non-contact, more inclusive and accessible version of the game, allowing for people of all skill levels and experiences to play together and bond over footy.
