Queensland's men's squad announced

Queensland men’s coach Steve Daniel has named his squad ahead of July’s representative clash against Tasmania at Latrobe.

The 34-man squad comprises the best players from senior men’s competitions across Queensland and features former AFL talent and emerging stars. This is Daniel’s first time taking the reins of the Queensland team. 

Nine players in the squad were part of the team who went down to Tasmania in a tough battle on the Gold Coast in 2024 and will be fighting for redemption this year.

Redland Victoria Point’s Matt Hammelmann , a three-time Ray Hughson Medallist as the leading goal kicker in the TPIL Laywers QAFL season is back, alongside his club teammates Charlton Offermans and Adrian Willams.

Broadbeach’s Blake Erikson, Labrador’s Aiden Fyfe, Redcliffe’s Daniel Bowles, Palm Beach Currumbin’s Tom Simpson and Sherwood’s Will Fletcher have all earned another call up.

Returning for a second year is Surfers Paradise’s Ben Woodburn, an under 23 star of the competition who leads the competition in clearances, disposals, contested possessions and leads the coaches' votes. Five other under 23 players join Woodburn – Palm Beach Currumbin’s Finn Hay, Maroochydore’s Hunter Moore and Bailey Hahn, Sherwood’s Owen Collins and Surfers Paradise’s Elijah Reardon.

Aspley’s Connor Stackelberg who leads the competition for goals and inside 50s has earned a selection as well as his teammate and 2022 Grogan Medallist, Ryan Banks-Smith. Jack Austin of the Sherwood Magpies who leads for intercept marks has also earned a call up. 

The squad will be boosted by experienced former AFL players including Surfers Paradise’s Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Coorparoo’s Kyle Dunkley, Sherwood’s Jarrod Cameron, Morningside’s Nakia Cockatoo and Hammelmann.
